IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH HELL, KEEP GOING ~ Winston Churchill
Ahh, the glamorous life of an entrepreneur! It truly takes a specific type of person to make it as an entrepreneur. The hard work, constant learning curve, and number of hours it takes are not for the faint hearted. The rewards are special! When you are performing the work you were meant to do, everything flows and you walk away as happy inside as you hoped you’d be.
If you Google: “What does it take to be a successful entrepreneur,” you will receive over 24 million results. Many list the steps you need to take to become successful. Probably you’ve already looked at some of those, I admit I have. But after over 11 years as an entrepreneur, I believe that it takes more than just specific steps to be successful.
You see, any of those articles can be broken down to three universal tasks:
1. Make a plan
2. Work the plan
3. Adjust and repeat steps 1 and 2
The secret sauce, as it were, lies in step number three, adjust and repeat. I’ve failed more often than I can count on this entrepreneurial journey. I just keep going, knowing that I crossed off another way that doesn’t work, narrowing down to what will work. I make some changes by deciding exactly what didn’t work so I can stop doing that, looking at what did work and incorporate more of that. Then, simply make a new plan and work it. Each time, more of what I do works the way I want it to. This is calculated success!
So the fundamental trait every entrepreneur needs is perseverance. The gumption to work that cycle of three steps over and over, until the tipping point where more of what you do on a daily basis becomes fruitful is the true secret of success.
